The genesis of Portland, OR based SmartStop can be traced to Jubitz Corporation, one of the Company's founding entities. Jubitz, founded by Monroe A. "Moe" Jubitz began as a small, Portland, Oregon based truck leasing operation in 1952. Over the years, Jubitz has evolved into a national leader in the transportation services industry.

Independently, B.R.G., Inc. a Texas-based company with fourteen truck/travel plazas, three Freightliner dealerships and several oil service businesses, began exploring opportunities for transportation industry telecommunications and fuel transaction systems.

Jubitz Corporation and B.R.G., Inc. founded SmartStop in August 1997. Through the founders’ experiences in telecommunications, truck stop operations, transportation load matching services and truck dealership operations, Jubitz and B.R.G. responded to an industry need and developed a business plan for providing network and public access communications to the trucking industry.
